A candlelight walk held in Kailua-Kona Sunday evening brought some residents together to honor the United Nations International Day of Peace.
It was the last of several free public Kona Peace Day events organized by the Pacific Rim Education Foundation, which strives to help nurture a culture and community of peace locally. The Hawaii-based, nonprofit organization supports education and activities that nurture love, wisdom and peace. It also promotes understand and connectedness among communities, as well as the importance of fostering wise care for the Earth.
Peace enthusiasts walked from the lawn at Huggo’s restaurant to Kailua Pier, helping promote peace and inspire others to undertake actions that promote that ideal.
